Venting on Bonnie

by Mark Edward, Jan 21 2010

Bonnie_Vent_HeadshotWell is didn’t take long for the Michael Jackson channelers to crawl out of the woodwork as I predicted correctly back on my post “Dead Celebs Rock!” of September 19th. It didn’t take a psychic to see them coming either. I did the first seance for Jacko at TAM7 for Skeptics Guide to the Universe. What more do you media people want? Now we have a “well known psychic and paranormal researcher” getting all the press. It’s just not fair! Bonnie Vent even has a group called Genesis Creations Entertainment and wow can she entertain! As of January 15th, Bonnie has allegedly started charging Michael Jackson’s bereaved fans for private fifteen minute sessions. (The source on that has mysteriously disappeared, and Vent denies this claim, so I will do some further investigation and follow up.)  Isn’t that special?Aren’t we sick to death of this crap? Apparently not. Bonnnie’s “San Diego Paranormal” website boasts all the usual tripe about her, including this bit taken directly from the page, www.sdparanormal.com/page/page199119.htm

“Bonnie knew from birth that she was “different”. As a child she would stare into candle flame to attain an alpha state.  The first messages came as drawings.  Since she had no natural ability for drawing, she knew this was coming from another source.  Being a very practical person, she finally requested that the messages be in word form.  Trying to guess what the pictures meant was too tedious.  Later Bonnie discovered this method is called “automatic writing”.  Soon the words came into her head before the writing was done. She then knew she no longer needed the writing, and had progressed to a new level as a full-fledged clairvoyant/clairaudient.   Today she uses a laptop and Microsoft Word to document her channeled messages. Don’t tell Bill Gates.  This may not be a feature he intended.”

What a load of baloney. It’s getting to be that anyone who says they are “different” really isn’t that much different after all huh? Everybody is doing this shtick. What’s so different about it?  Even kids are all the rage if you are keeping up with Chip Coffey and his bunch of Psychic Kids. There’s no end to it. I used to stare at Superman episodes on the television when I was a kid and self hypnotize myself too. Big deal. I suppose that in our dumbed down culture staring at anything that might lead to any form of concentration has now become a novelty. If you think, you can now call yourself “different.”

I felt really bad for poor Bonnie when I read that, “trying to guess what the pictures meant was too tedious.” Boo Hoo.  I’m sure Bill Gates would be happy to know he has helped psychically speed things along in his own way. It gets worse:

“In 2003 Bonnie appeared in 2 episodes of Macabre Theatre with Butch Patrick.  The subjects were the Villa Montezuma and the Queen Mary.  She was on the Fall Pilot of Macabre Theatre on October 31, 2003 with additional film of the Villa Montezuma.”

Butch Patrick: Your New Paranormal Expert

Butch Patrick: Your New Paranormal Expert

So step right up Ladies and Gentlemen: Bonnie V’s got your best interests in mind. She’s moving with real movers and shakers in the celebrity world; hanging out and doing fancy film work with ButchPatrick. You remember Butch don’t you? He knows all about the paranormal and has years of spookiness to back him up. He was Eddie Munster on The Munsters. Who better to consult with? ..And Villa Montezuma? Sounds like a really bad Mexican restaurant. We all know about the Queen Mary by now, don’t we? How long can these people continue to dredge up this crap?

The only thing I found mildly interesting about this latest flavor of the month witch-for-hire was the alluring pop-up ads that appear below her “Official Home of Medium Bonnie Vent” banner:  “Air Duct Cleaning,” “Clean Your Dryer Vent,” and “Dryer Vent Clean.” At first I thought this was some new up-beat “Chakra Cleaning” service. No, it’s just commercial adverts she has to post. I’m sure those will be coming down off her site in the coming weeks as her bank account swells.

Chakra Cleaners at work

Chakra Cleaners at work

Discerning viewers can also look forward to:

“As of June 2005 Bonnie Vent has agreed to join a group in Houston TX known as the Phenomena Police.  These are active duty Houston Police Officers providing paranormal investigation services.  A new show has developed from this group.  The television show will also be called the Phenomena Police and Bonnie Vent will be their paranormal expert specializing in spirit communication..  “

Oh good. Houston must be brimming with excitement over that… Oh wait. That was back in 2005. I wonder what happened to that show? Call the Phenomena Police!

Help!

Once agian: You can’t write comedy any funnier than this.

And yet this woman continues with her mediumship shenanigans. Is there any justice in the world? Truth be told, I suppose that if I had to choose a particular group to have to endure the barrage of phony mediums and everything else that comes with them, Michael Jackson fans would be on my list along with Scientologists, Pat Robertson and Dick Chaney. I hate to say it, but some people who live in world of willful ignorance and contemptible evil may just deserve people like Bonnie. Maybe we are in the midst of some form of spiritual Darwinism where only the mentally fittest will eventually survive. We seem lost in a world of woo. I will keep this post short. FORCE ONE has much work to do.

Brian Dunning, if by chance you are reading this post. I suggest you change the title of “The Skeptologists.” The new title should be

“ENOUGH IS ENOUGH”

You might be able to attract somebody using that strategy.

I wonder if the cop’s inability to distinguish fantasy and reality has ever been an issue in court.
Not much on Phenomena Police: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0909708/.

    • Apparently, it’s up 58% in popularity this week. Clicking the above link is possibly attracting the most traffic they’ve seen in a long, long time.

      Book ‘em Dannoplasm!

    • Janis says:

Cops have their own version of reality. Make no mistake about that. And they won’t let the facts stand it their way. I say that of most cops, not all… Many are good people. But, yes, they are zealots in many cases and enjoy the power that has been granted them. Why don’t you do something about abuse of power on this site? (and I don’t mean psychic)

      • Sgerbic says:

Why don’t you solve global warming? Why don’t you end hunger in Africa? Why don’t you start up recycling programs in schools? Why don’t you teach someone to read? Gee Janis, I think the reason why he is focusing on psychics is because he wants to? Whatta think? This called Skeptic Blog, maybe try your question over at Police Blog. And be specific!

      • Paul T. says:

Janis, what is your strawman’s name?

  2. Thomas says:

Butch Patrick is also a notary. So he has that going for him too!

  3. rustle says:

“Being a very practical person, she finally requested that the messages be in word form.” A practical person stares into a candle flame to hypnotize herself? The most troubling aspect of all this is that if it weren’t becoming easier to make money defrauding people this way, it would take people waaaaay smarter than this to pull it off

  4. Bonnie Vent says:

    Mark,

I thought that critical thinking was what this blog was all about. You picked up a RUMOR that is completely FALSE and ran with it. If you are interested in the TRUTH I have addressed this on my message board. A little fact checking goes a long way.

    http://www.sdparanormal.com/board/board_topic/310672/550573.htm

    Thx you for your time.
    Bonnie Vent

  5. Deirdre says:

You have libeled an individual in their profession without even bothering to speak to her. She does not contact Michael Jackson for money–that fact was on her website well in advance of your poorly researched article. I believe you have her confused with another psychic who WILL contact Mr. Jackson for 1.75 per minute. Ms. Vent just won an award–I do not see any balanced reporting in your article or any discussion of other psychics who are in fact doing what you allege she is doing. You owe Ms. Vent an apology. You have the right to your opinion, but not to defame her with incorrect facts. Shame on you. Why don’t you start from square one and actually research your articles? I strongly suggest you run this by your legal department due to your allegations which have hampered Ms. Vent’s reputation. Did you take a course in ethics in journalism or are you always this cavalier about others professions? Once again, for the record, Ms. Vent does not connect individuals with Mr. Jackson, nor does she promise to or attempt to. All of her channeling has been provided to the public free of charge, whereas others have charged for the same. Feel free to respond to this.

    • Paul T. says:

Is this supposed to be Bonnie’s attorney? I’m just curious, I work with attorneys quite often and they don’t write this casually. I’m sure making credentials available would be no problem. Again just curious.

    • kabol says:

i don’t suppose you saw the word “allegedly” in mark’s article. does that mean anything to you, or are flying monkeys distracting you right now? (sorry, once again sgerbic’s “and your little dog too” is cracking me up)

      • Charles says:

Whoa Kabol–you have posted six comments here, getting excited on a Fri nite, huh? Those who can’t, criticize. Poor Mark couldn’t make it as a psychic so he criticizes the successful ones and other successful people. Tear others down to make yourself feel better. I think you should rename yourself FARCE ONE. OMG What do you people do in the real world?? Go see the ONE psychic who DOES channel Michael Jackson (if you can find her by using your awesome investigatory skills) and then you can keep your little hate parade going. Do you EVER say anything GOOD about ANYONE??? You are all “smarter” than everyone else. The truth is none of you made it. Get a job at a real newspaper and then at least you would know the freakin law. Can’t wait to take this to the next level. We are legion.

      • Paul T. says:

Slowdown Charles take a deep breath don’t blow a gasket, give that shift key a rest.”What do you people do in the real world??” I’ve just noticed a pattern that in many of your posts, you seem to be a little obsessed with what everyone does for a living. “Get a job at a real newspaper and then at least you would know the freakin law.” I just threw that in because I have no idea what it means.

      • Mark says:

Just because you threw in a few words such as “allegedly” does not change the law. The law states that the entire writing, and its purpose, will be reviewed by the court to determine if there was 1) malice and/or 2) negligence in the publication of your article and comments. I get some amusement out of the fact that you try to hide behind SLAPP. Do you think that you can say whatever you want and be protected by the First Amm. because of the SLAPP statute and case law? Another day dawns and you continue your attack, not only on Bonnie, but on her attorney. WOW. I also cannot help but notice that the author currently holds himself out for work as an entertainer and psychic. This entire situation got way out of hand, and it did not need to. Bonnie politely asked you to review your facts and that did not happen. Further, you moderated comments that were noting but mob insults while moderating OUT posts such as this. I find it very unfortunate that you cannot respect differing opinions. You do not have any evidence that this woman ripped anyone off for a nickel. She came to you in a positive spirit of reconciliation and you chose to attack her even more. Have some testes and post this.

      • Paul T. says:

I’m certainly glad they didn’t put this up! Look at that the First Amendment worked for you to. So that is Bonnie’s attorney?

    • stargazer9915 says:

And the award was for what? Biggest scammer? Most succesful con artist. Phony baloney of the year? Psychic awards are worth no more than the paper that the pig is folded from. Give me a break!

    • Paul T. says:

“She does not contact Michael Jackson for money–that fact was on her website well in advance of your poorly researched article.” That’s all the proof I need “Mr. Edward tear down this blog”

    • Paul T. says:

Is this the JD, that posted on Bonnie’s message board that they have proof positive that Bonnie is psychic? And that you have been a federal judge and prosecutor for 30 years. I find it highly unusual (even bizarre) that an attorney would make such a public statement. Don’t you agree Counselor? But then again I can understand Bonnie wanting to do damage control on her own site. I’m sure some of her followers will take the hook, then the Bonnie is a victim sessions can begin…. but there’s something strange here.

    • MadScientist says:

Oooh, won an AWARD? What was it – MORON OF THE YEAR?

  6. Dude, you predicted correctly back on your post “Dead Celebs Rock!” You MUST be psychic. Oh, and not being overly critical but the second word in the opening sentence is misspelled.

  7. Sgerbic says:

Looks like Mark has hit a nerve…

Here is what Bonnie has posted on her forum today,

“I have sent a note to Mark Edward letting him know that he has picked up on a false rumor. Considering you guys are all about critical thinking it would seem a little fact checking would go a long way. You can also let him know that my attorney has reviewed his blog and she is not as nice as I am. He does not need to apologize but he does need to take it down to avoid possible legal action.” Paranormal Message Board http://www.sdparanormal.com/page/page/310672.html

    • Vent’s Attorney: Your Honor, I’d like to present my first character witness
      Judge: What’s this?
      Vent’s Attorney: An Ouija board
      Judge: Wait.Who’s your character witness?
      Vent’s Attorney: Michael Jackson

i can’t stop laughing. OK, well – i can, but this stuff is brilliant!

geez, mark — don’t you hope bonnie will sue you?? i mean, we’re all still waiting for chip and sylvia, so maybe she’ll have to get in line…

      • Charles says:

Well, if you are suing Chip she is in good company. What do you do for a living?

      • kabol says:

What do you do for a living?

surely all you have to do is consult bonnie, fork over some money — and she’ll tell you all about me.

or do i have to be dead first?

  8. Sgerbic says:

Here is another blog that slammed Bonnie Vant. Wonder if they were threatened with legal action too?

    http://www.totaltalknonsense.com/wp/2009/08/michael-jackson-survives/comment-page-1/#comment-213

    • Paul T. says:

This is a really good blog, I’m sure Bonnie’s “attorney” has advised her that if she took legal action on this blog. She would have to demonstrate that their information is not factual.

      • Sgerbic says:

Apparently Bonnie’s “lawyer” has posted on her site that she (the unnamed federal judge) has positive proof that Bonnie is truly psychic. What a funny attorney she/he is, posting blog comments for your client? I’ve never heard of anything like that before, attorneys don’t do things like that. Wonder if Bonnie actually has a attorney? No, that could not be possible. Bonnie would never lie, she would never try to intimidate someone that writes unflattering posts about her, nah.

      • MadScientist says:

Whaa – ha ha ha? A Federal Judge acting as a lawyer? Oh yeah, pull the other one. It’s kind of funny though – phony federal judges acting as phony lawyers for phony psychics.

    • kabol says:

well, i’m certainly not psychic. nor, evidently, can i read very well since just reposted this link below — d’oh.

  9. AUJT says:

What a load. Bonnie likes broken radios too. Why doesn’t she use her “Box” to capture some of MJ’s musings? He liked the radio. Certainly he’s still writing and producing music.

Nice touch with the legal/lawyer thing, Bonnie. LOL! hahahahahaha

Mark, you couldn’t pay any of these idiots to actually initiate a lawsuit. They’re all about threats and nothing more. And I’m starting to think that their fans/”clients” may be getting just what they deserve. A shame though just the same. BTW, I’m with ya on the Enough Is Enough thing.

  10. jan long says:

You know you are a typical tabloid journalist who doesn’t care about who they hurt or the facts. Shame on you! Bonnie has never Michael Jackson fans for a reading. There is a medium who does that, but it is NOT Bonnie. So get you facts straight. I am sick of people who write lies for their own personal gain.

    Jan

    • kabol says:

I am sick of people who write lies for their own personal gain.

how do you feel about people who TELL lies for their own personal gain?

    • stargazer9915 says:

If you are sick of people who tell lies then you should absolutely Hate this Vent thing who calls herself a medium. It really pisses me off when con artists woo grieving people into thinking they can contact the dead. GET YOUR FACTS STRAIGHT missy!

    • tmac57 says:

“Bonnie has never Michael Jackson fans for a reading.”
Uhhh… hard to argue with that.

  11. Mark says:

It is incredibly ironic that several individuals have left messages in defense of Bonnie Vent yet you continue to delete them? Under what provision of your Terms of Service? You clearly do not want the truth, you want to perpetuate a libelous course of conduct. Hasn’t the author worked as a 900 number psychic? I am contacting all of the companies who he lists he has worked with and advise them of his lack of professionalism. You delete anything that does not agree with your position. Well I have an opinion to share with your “employers” including the night clubs you list as the references. What 900 service did you work for? YOU can charge money for psychic services yet ridicule someone for being psychic. Hypocrite.

    • kabol says:

he has repented. he’s saved. amen.

    • stargazer9915 says:

It’s not being a hypocrite when you change your mind. Yes, M.E. WAS a sleazebag, but he saw the light and is now doing more than almost anyone to undo any damage he has done. That is called admirable while most psychics are just degenerates.

Keep up the good work Mr. Edward.

      • Paul T. says:

“What 900 service did you work for? YOU can charge money for psychic services yet ridicule someone for being psychic. Hypocrite.” What evidence do you have that Bonnie is psychic? If you have that evidence please hand it over.

  12. Bryan says:

This is another great example of the “We work with the Police” credential that is becoming a catch phrase in the paranormal commuinty.

Not only are the “psychics” scamming people, they are bringing in more clients by making them feel like the “psychic” that they are using is somehow affiliated with the local P.D.

Chris Moon is a great example of this type of claim. He has stated that he has had murder cold cases “re-opened” because of his use with the telephone to the dead and his psychic skills. The claims are that he is working with the police and has named the killer of two women. I have personally talked to the Denver P.D. cold case unit and up until I mentioned Chris’ name they did not even know who he was. They also pointed out that they never close a murder cold case so the claims that Chris had it “re-opened” are just an addition to the scam.

Many different “psychics” claim to be “working with the police” but when you look at the truth it usually comes down to the family who is looking for a murder suspect or missing person contacts a “psychic” out of desperation. It’s not the Police who look for the psychics.

Bonnie has really pushed the limits when it comes to the “celebrity seance” and she even has a daily “paranormal news” that while fun to look at (kind of like a train wreck) is promoting some of the worst kinds of para-stupid.

  13. Note – there is comment moderation on this blog because of dedicated spammers. Moderation means you have to wait for your post to appear (as it says right above the comment window). We do no censor.

Further – we take accusations that our blogs are not factually accurate very seriously. The blog post has been modified slightly (“apparently” changed to “allegedly” and the inclusion of Vent’s denial) so as to remove any possible ambiguity.

However, we also jealously defend our right to free speech. We are NOT intimidated by threats of law suits, and will use SLAPP laws to deal with any attempts to suppress our free speech.

In other words – Bonnie Vent can suck it!

    • tmac57 says:

Now thats what I’m talkin’ bout!!! Way to go Dr Novella.I consider Mark a friend, and am ready to take his back too if necessary.

    • Sarah says:

You are not protected here under the SLAPP laws. This is not a matter of public interest. You are way over your head in understanding the law. Simply stated, you committed libel per se because you attacked this woman in the course of her business. You did it with malice. Dspite being contacted and being made aware of the falsity of the matter, you made it a joke. You need to read the SLAPP laws and more importantly, the law on defamation as it applies to bloggers. Better yet, get an attorney, Ms. Vent did. You have refused to retract this false publication which has caused Ms. Vent harm and even had the audacity to state that you believe your untruths are protected by laws that do not protect you….in effect, you proved your own malice.

As to proving whether Ms. Vent’s attorney exists or not, I believe she called your offices today.

Truly, this is a matter of simple decency and the golden rule. You apparently feel that you can attack anyone, write anything, do anything, without proper research because you have misinterpreted a statute. I suggest you retract and write a notice of the same. In the interim, just because you threw a few wordds in there and then continued your personal assault does NOT protect you from liability. Don’t you people have an attorney who advises you? Geez.

      • MadScientist says:

Which fly-by-night college did you get your law degree from – or did you get it from a box of crackerjacks?

    • Martha says:

“Bonnie Vent can suck it”–this comment by a professional man? I am shocked at the level of maturity, or lack thereof. Your corporate offices will be notified through the appropriate channels and once again, you are being asked to delete this blog and mitigate the damages against Bonnie Vent’s reputation. And truly, SLAPP laws DO NOT apply here. Don’t use big words you can’t handle… And have respect for women. Suck what, “doctor”? Any woman reading this should be disguisted.

      • Chris says:

You should listen to the Skeptic’s Guide to the Universe that Dr. Novella does with a couple of his brothers and some other friends. Then you will then learn that he is a very nice man with a real sense of humor (and is a total nerd). You might also learn how to think better.

He will certainly be professional if you are a patient, but if you are someone who is spouting nonsense you will get what you deserve.

Corporate offices? I was not aware that Yale University was a corporation. I have learned from an oceanographer that cranks calling deans to have a scientist fired because the crank did not like the conclusion from data is actually quite common. I am pretty sure your letter of complaint will be filed in the appropriate recycle bin.

    • kabol says:

libel that, bonnie’s little green witchy lawyer! (sorry, the “and your doggie too” got stuck)

    • stargazer9915 says:

Right on brain doc. There is a big community standing behind you, Mark, and the rest!

“Suck it and your little dog too” indeed. :-D

    • You continued attempts to intimidate us in order to silence our freedom of speech is pathetic. Anti-SLAPP laws absolutely apply – this is an issue of legitimate public interest and debate and there is precedence.

Your anti-free speech motives are transparent.

I just wanted to let everyone know that the press release referenced above as well as the blog by Mark Edward have been removed. An abuse complaint was filed on the press release. In the case of the Skeptic’s blog both the author Mark Edward and Skeptic’s Magazine were contacted and they have decided to remove the blog posting.

Please rest assured that the claims made were false and this is why they were removed.

Thx to everyone who stuck by me during this ordeal. It is greatly appreciated.

evidently bonnie isn’t just NOT in touch with MJ, she’s not in touch with reality…or honesty….or THE FORCE.

      • MadScientist says:

She must have taken the wrong set of medications – or she got her information using her psychic abilities.

  15. SicPreFix says:

My eyes doth deceive me then, for sooth. I must be looking at the ghost of Mark’s blog. Ya, that’s what it is: Ghost blog!

  16. TonyaK says:

Deirdre said, “Ms. Vent just won an award.”

Exactly what was this award, and who awarded it?

    • Martha says:

      In response to TonyaK:

Ms Vent won the International Paranormal Acknowledgement Awards Best Female medium award. Since the author of this blog admits to making money as a psychic, perhaps he is aware of the group, which recognizes excellence in the field. Other members include Jason Hawes of Ghosthunters and others.

      • Paul T. says:

So it’s like winning a pie contest.

      • tmac57 says:

Except that making a good pie takes talent.

      • kabol says:

Except that making a good pie takes talent.

and in a pie contest, people are actually presenting something to be judged and are willing to have their talents tested.

        Martha said:

… the International Paranormal Acknowledgement Awards Best Female medium award. Since the author of this blog admits to making money as a psychic, perhaps he is aware of the group, which recognizes excellence in the field.

Isn’t that rather like recognizing excellence in vacuum? Or is it excellence in fraud?

And furthermore, on what basis is that recognition made? Dollars? Or is that recognition perhaps based on how many people have been successfully fleeced and conned out of their hard earned dollars by a charlatan posing as a possessor of magical powers?

Perhaps the recognition is based on how many brainwashed victims of charlatanism have provided meaningless testimonials? One wonders: are testimonials paid for?

You and Charles are pretty funny folk. You keep blathering on about this issue as though there were in fact, please note that phrase “in fact” some kind of “magical power” that could be proven, through evidence, and substantiated through consistent repetition.

Here’s an idea: Why don’t you, Martha, and Charles take good ol’ Ms. Vent over to Randi’s challenge and let her prove her point.

/roles eyes at silly, silly, people

        Martha also said:

Other members include Jason Hawes of Ghosthunters and others.

        Right after she said:

International Paranormal Acknowledgement Awards Best Female medium award.

Tee, hee. Boyo, there must really be some jim-dandy magic powers floating around when a man is awarded for being the best fenale medium. Magic indeed!

Ha, ha, ha: “So it’s like winning a pie contest.”

        Made me smile.

      • TonyaK says:

Ah…this would be the same IPAA who had their award ceremony over a year after it was supposed to be held. The same IPAA who did not have the lovely red carpet event they promised, but did their ceremony on the internet instead. The same IPAA who banned me after I questioned them.

An award from this organization really isn’t a feather in anyone’s hat.

      • Paul T. says:

Here is a list from the IPAA website of categories and winners. I lost count of how many categories there are “Best up-and-coming psychic surgeon” “Best children and animals psychic” “Best use of Play-Doh in a séance””Best use of drippy blood music in a ghost hunting show” you get the idea.

And look at this winner for 2009 “Best ITC/RTSC Researcher (Male) winner: Christopher Moon” So winning a pie contest is better.

What is “excellence in the field” – whoever can dupe and rob the most number of people or dupe people of the most money? It would be good to know what constitutes “excellence” in a con job business.

According to her website it was the IPAA- International Paranormal Acknowledgement Award winner for 2009 :Category: Best National Spirit Medium Female- Bonnie Vent.

      • Max says:

Oooh, watch out John Edward, your “Biggest Douche in the Universe Award” is up for grabs.

Say, why don’t they apply for the JREF Million Dollar Challenge?

      • Dan says:

Again, another term that has a distinctly anti-female tone. Douche…. Actually, I would state that Mr. Edwards has made millions from cold readings. I have personally been present when he has done his thing. You are talking about two very different people–one makes 250.00 a group session, one posts videos for free. One does one on one sessions, one doesn’t. The one on one sessions do not include Michael Jackson. I find it very odd that you picked the one person who is not profiting hand over fist from Jackson’s death. You fell for another psychic’s plant. If Anastasia is for real, why is SHE using the word alleged in her claims about Bonnie. She has no first hand knowledge yet she admits to putting out a press release? And Anastasia, your 1st Amm. Rights are not unqualified.
Why don’t you all agree to talk like human beings and them publish your article…you would want the same thing done for you. That seems like the fair thing to do, as well as research who the real scam artists are. Why the hate when I have not seen any from Bonnie on her site towards you at all? Are you an unwitting pawn in someone’s plot to destroy someone? Do you know the backstory with Anastasia? You may want to check it.

      • kabol says:

I write the above because I approach this message board after seeing Bonnie treated unfairly. She has been defamed in her profession and in my opinion no qualification of the same as opinion will remove the damage or make legitimate the wrong that has been caused her.

I am an attorney who has been working with Bonnie for some time. I have been a federal judge and a federal prosecutor in my thirty years as an attorney. I have seen the website which is being referred to, and it is my opinion that Bonnie has been more than reasonable in asking for a retraction of this material. She has acted professionally and politely–a courtesy which I have not seen returned. I am proud that her members have exercised maturity and restraint while others have not. Rest assured that this matter will be addressed. On a personal level, I have proof positive that Bonnie has pre-cognitive abilities. I don’t need that, however, to determine that she is not guilty of the things that she has been accused of. On the contrary, she has given of her time and efforts freely. If this be a crime, so be it. Please continue with your spirit of love and mutual support. If you have any questions about my post or information that you feel is important to share, please contact Bonnie and she will contact me. Thank you all for standing by a very decent woman. The truth will prevail.

Is Bonnie and fans saying that she does not charge for readings? Or that she does not charge MJ fans for readings?

Her website has a link for “readings by Bonnie Vent” http://www.bonnievent.com/
where you can have an hour of her time for “only” $125. How will she know which are MJ fans and which are not? Ohhhh right…she’s psychic….

Guess if your are a Michael Jackson fan then your reading is free. I suppose there is no way of checking on this unless someone has a recording?

  18. Charles says:

Do you have permission to use the copyrighted material and other entries from her website, including her picture?

  19. Paul T. says:

I don’t think the importance lies in whether or not Bonnie is charging for sessions with Michael Jackson, Marilyn Monroe, George Carlin or Fats Domino. She is using these celebrity channelings as mere marketing as window dressing, to lure in those who love celebrities. Many fans especially those who love Michael Jackson considered him as close as any family member, so to them his death was devastating.

Michael Jackson was barely in the hearse when Bonnie first claimed that she was channeling Michael and speaking on his behalf. This is for the benefit of those of you who have not seen her series of videos. You’ll notice that all of the information is vague it’s the usual performance art, I could’ve recorded it while watching old episodes of Bullwinkle. Be sure to read some of the comments they are actually very sad.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6aEktEyAH_0&feature=related

So many grief stricken fans turned to Bonnie as their conduit to Michael, lost empty individuals who are very vulnerable and ready to accept whatever she says in her next video as coming out of the mouth of Michael. It is my opinion and my opinion alone that Bonnie took advantage of the situation. Using Michael Jackson’s death to prop up her business giving it celebrity appeal and credibility, in turn become what I have always called a grief vulture. Feeding off of the grief of others for their own gain, Bonnie could’ve been in the position after the first video to start weaning her followers away from her. But no the videos and messages kept coming, individuals who should be far along in the grief process instead hanging onto a shoestrings hope that Bonnie may come out with some earthshaking revelation from Michael, messages that were the equivalent of “I was misunderstood” or “I want all my fans to brush their teeth tonight” what a revelation. I mean come on, some (unnamed) nonfamous distance family member is backing her up! It’s got to be legitimate, it’s a real honest to god (unnamed) distant family member!! For reference you may go to her timeline which includes a message filled poker game, I’m not kidding.

    http://www.sdparanormal.com/Michael_Jackson.html

It’s already been pointed out that perhaps Bonnie and her group deserve each other, this may be true for many no words could sway them from their beliefs. And you know what that’s okay, but this may be a wake-up call for those on the fence. Unless Bonnie can come up with some extraordinary evidence that she is actually channeling Michael Jackson or any other celebrity for that matter, that I’m afraid all of her carnival barking is nothing more than an outlandish claim. Of course if Bonnie wants to test her claim that can be arranged.

Welcome to the big time Bonnie, and all that it brings.

I think this blog like anything else on the internet is protected by freedom of speech. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions. There is nothing here that involves anything vulgar or offensive language. It’s just one author’s opinion. I hope that lawyer Ms. Vent has arranged to “take down this blog” is aware that we as Americans are entitled to our constitutional rights as well and so is Mark Edward. You have my complete support. No one gave Bonnie Vent any right to go around policing the internet as if she owns the world wide web. Sorry Bonnie you lost this one.

  21. Anastasia says:

I wanted to clarify some things here that some of you may be wondering about. On January 15th, 2009, Ms. Vent charged a client of hers for a 15 minute reading to channel Michael Jackson privately. Ms. Vent does not want people to know this and that’s why she had my press release deleted within 24 hours of my releasing it. Also when I inquired about this alleged reading on her forum board, she removed it within 1 hour. If she was so sure she did nothing wrong then why is she so aggressively working to remove this information? Ms. Vent seems to be all about facts, but if those facts don’t agree with what she says herself? She considers them untrue. She goes around the internet threatening legal action and removing what she considers to be unfavorable information. I am the one who was posting those messages on her forum board. I never disappeared, I kept getting forcibly deleted by Bonnie Vent. My rights that are ptotected under the US constitution have been violated and it is clear that Mr. Edward and Skeptic Magazine are victims of the same thing. Ms. Vent has been known to instigate unprovoked and unnecessary attacks of her own on innocent people, but justifies her actions as being the only authorized person who can speak for Michael Jackson and his family. Michael Jackson as we well know is no longer living and is unable to defend himself. The Jackson family would not get involved with a fraudulent psychic. They don’t even believe in psychics themselves and most including Katherine Jackson are Jehovah’s Witnesses. If anyone should be considering legal action it should be us the victims, the Jackson Family and of course Mr. Edward and Skeptic Magazine. Mr. Edward, you and Skeptic Magazine have my complete support. If you would like details regarding the alleged transaction that took place on January 15th, please feel free to contact me privately. You have my e-mail address.

    Sincerely,
    Anastasia

    • Dan says:

OK, calling people lunatics is certainly proof of your scientific acumen. It is kind of ironic that Bonnie went on YouTube on January 7 and told people not to pay money for readings with Michael Jackson, because it was not him, and to save the money for their own families. Yet, you accuse her of trying to make money channeling him. How do you reconcile her public comments on January 7th with your allegations that she is channeling Michael Jackson during private sessions. Have you contacted her yet for her comments or to be fair and balanced?

And whoever called Michael Jackson “Jacko” should listen to “Tabloid Junkie”; heck you all should.

      • Paul T. says:

Bonnie can post what ever she wants right here.

      • Sgerbic says:

Wait. Let me read that again Dan. “It is kind of ironic that Bonnie went on YouTube on January 7 and told people not to pay money for readings with Michael Jackson, because it was not him,”

She was saying that her readings with MJ are not real? Or is she saying that other people’s readings are not from MJ?

      • Janis says:

She does not do readings with MJ, if you watched the tape you would see that. Also, if her supporters are sock puppets, I must ask, “Is this a public issue?” Are sock puppets all this? Do they have rights? If you are really wondering if you are arguing with a bunch of sock puppets, then your energy is better spent serving a bigger public interest than cleaning out someone’s sock draw.

Everyone on the internet can be a PhD or a JD, all you have to do is type out whatever you want to say, press “post” and walla you have a degree! Kinda like channeling dead people…there is always someone credulous enough to believe you….gotta love the Internet.

  23. heid says:

    FAKE! FAKe! FAKE!
Bonnie Vent is a complete joke. anyone who has ever followed Michael Jacksons life and career, seen interviews, etc. would know that the garbage this woman comes up with in regards to channeling MJ is absurd. she knows nothing about him, his gentle nature, his personality. it simply does not match what she says about him. he just wouldn’t say the things that she states he says. i dont believe one word this joke says about anything let alone michael jackson. when he first died i listened to her so-called channeling which by the way was so predictable of her, and turned it off after only a few short minutes. i know that MJ would only speak to an honest person who would not want to capitalize on him in any way. if you want have MJ channeled or any person that you love, go to a clairvoyant who does it privately and for very little money and who is willing to go the extra mile free of charge. Bonnie Vent should ashamed of herself for the hurt she causes others in order to make her business thrive. what goes around bonnie comes around eventually. if you were truly spiritual, not just psychic, you would be ashamed of yourself for slandering others. this behavior is frowned upon by our maker. take a minute to think before you badger someone else.

    • MadScientist says:

Uh – hate to spoil your party, but all the other psychics and clairvoyants are fakes too. And as the old saying goes, “dead men don’t talk” – really, they just don’t. No ghosts, no gods – the dead are simply gone and all that’s left are memories (and maybe a few audio and video bites).

  24. Dan says:

heid–1) Did you pay to listen to her work when Michael Jackson first died? No, it was posted free of charge.

“If you want MJ Channeled go to a clarivoyant who does it privately”–who do you have in mind? Because she did not charge for public sessions and refused to channel him privately you criticize her?

“Bonnie Vent should be ashamed of herself for the hurt she caused others” What hurt is that? Pray tell! How about that other psychic, who channels him on demand, for 1.75 a minute. Oh, I see, that is better.

“She did this in order to make her business thrive”– so you know how much she made out of this? Why don’t you tell us all. Put your money where your mouth is.

“…blah, blah….you would be ashamed of yourself for slandering others Bonnie” WHAT Good one. Wrong party, but that gave me a good chuckle. Name ONE thing that she said that was slanderous.

Bonnie didn’t start this, she tried to end it, and your blog owner refused to, so who is badgering who?

Be that as it may, may I remind each and every one of you that libel extends to not only the original writers of a blog but those who post comments as well. Free speech is one thing, baseless rants and libel are another. Does ANYONE here know ANYTHING about the LAW? You just can’t dump on people and cry “First Amm”. Once again, where is the proof about the claims. Answer the questions above and do what skeptics are supposed to do. Be objective, don’t just vomit insults all over the internet. It stinks.

    • Sgerbic says:

Bonnie claims to get messages from dead people. HELLO we are talking about DEAD PEOPLE (see I can use caps lock too).

SHE needs to back that up. NO ONE has ever proven that the dead have ever communicated to the living.

Bonnie is making the outrageous statement, skeptics do NOT have to prove her wrong, it does not work that way. Otherwise (now pay close attention here this is a vital point) a person can claim that they have a invisible dragon in their garage (yes I am channeling Sagan) and then say “you need to prove there is no invisible dragon in my garage” NO, the person making the wild statement needs to PROVE they have a dragon. Otherwise it is like arguing with a 2-year old.

    • kabol says:

      1) Did you pay to listen to her work when Michael Jackson first died? No, it was posted free of charge.

i don’t suppose savvy internet psychics know how to market their trade well by offering a freebie here and there….you know, like that whole “first minute free” thing.

say, i don’t suppose bonnie ever worked at one of those dial-a-p$ychic per minute phone line$ that you yourself are denigrating, eh dan?

      we all know chip did.

      • Janis says:

ALL of her sessions have been posted free. A minute here and there? There is not one session that is not posted free. There are also several other psychics who have sessions from MJ. Why did you pick HER to single out? This is especially true since others charge individuals to channel Michael. I am not going to subject them to this schoolyard brawl. I notice every time I try to make a comment, Paul T is right there with his bullying. I don’t see him being subjected to that on any boards, nor should he be. Paul, why do you think I am a strawman? I was reacting to a post about police, and it was apparently removed or in a different place. Care to explain what you mean by your comment about a strawman? I have no clue what you mean. What are you getting at? Dude, be direct. I have to say that some of you make newcomers feel very unwelcome here. Telling me to post on the police blog? You have no respect for others at any level. I really do know you.

      • Paul T. says:

I never thought I was bullying? Actually it was an attempt at humor. Many of your posts(now I understand unknowingly)lean towards the strawman argument, that’s all carry on.

      • Janis says:

Why don’t you ask Mark Edwards, who worked on them for ten years? He would know all the other phone psychics. Moreover, on his site he lists himself as an entertainer AND a psychic, throwing in “you never know” in promoting his celebrity channeling sessions and private readings. So, is this a case of competitor jealousy. He did begin his article with a comment that he was the first to have contact with the deceased MJ. We know he channels Princess Diana and whomoever else you want him to (just let him know in advance so he can practice, according to his website) but oh….he is an entertainer and a psychic. How much do you charge Mark? Did you ever charge for channeling a celebrity? Yes, you sure did. Yet, you debunk others?

Why did you put all your WHOIS contact info on private today for your site? You are hiding something–the people who are trying to contact you. Unfortunately, since you are actively selling psychic books, mediumship, magic shows, etc. you are a competitor of Ms. Vent and your motives are suspect. You should not even be involved in a scientific inquiry because you are a biased investigator. You fail the first premise of scientific method. You have a biased investigator with flawed data. Riddle me this, Batman.

  25. steelsheen11B says:

See this is what happens when you don’t look at the website for a couple of days, the lunatics crawl out from under rocks and infest the place like a lice outbreak.

  26. Paul T. says:

This whole situation is becoming surreal, adults who should have stopped believing in Santa Claus long ago are actually defending someone who claims they are talking to the dead Michael Jackson. Based on what evidence? The timeline on her web site? I have shown this timeline to children who don’t believe it, little children who are Michael Jackson fans, when I showed them the videos said “she’s pretending” you know what they’re right! Little kids who know nothing of Occam’s razor figured it out.
I’m sorry Michael Jackson’s dead, I’m sorry that there are many who walk around in a daydream thinking he is going to somehow send messages of love and light from the afterlife. I’m sorry that there are individuals who find it impossible to let go, while the rest of the world moves on. But I do not feel sorry for Bonnie or any other alleged psychic who wants to keep this delusion going, a delusion that could not have any positive benefit in your or anyone else’s life. For some of you it may be too late, hopelessly lost in the metaphysical house of mirrors that Bonnie has built. But for those of you who may be passing by at least try to be as smart as my neighbor kids.

“Bonnie didn’t start this, she tried to end it, and your blog owner refused to, so who is badgering who?”-Dan

You are right Bonne attempted “to end it” by bringing down the entire blog, if she had used her inside voice and requested Mark to change the as of yet unsubstantiated information. He would have done it, however Bonne elected to play the threat of legal action card right off the bat. In other words she brought a bazooka, to a schoolyard fight. With the changes that were made to the copy Mark’s article basically satirizes Bonnie and her web site, and since she has made herself a public figure Mark was well within his rights to do so. Dr. Novella, stated his case beautifully this morning in his new blog.

“Bonnie Vent could have just taken Mark’s criticism and moved on, but instead she chose to try to have the criticism taken down, resorting to empty libel threats as an intimidation tactic. But all she has accomplished is to focus our attention on her all the more.”

The moment Bonne elected to play the legal card it made me extremely suspicious, I personally did not care if Bonnie was charging for Michael Jackson sessions or not, but once the threats began perhaps it’s only human nature I wondered what there was to hide. I know that Bonnie is working very hard on damage control on her own site, and the charging for MJ sessions seems to be the only section of the blog that she takes issue with, but since the copy has changed its no longer an issue. I wonder if her followers have given this a second thought?

    • Sgerbic says:

Paul is exactly right. I had never heard of Bonnie Vant before. Now I’m cruzing her site, googling her and reading up on her ways.

Like Paul I don’t think channeling MJ is any more problem than her channeling somebody’s mother. BUT I have a big problem with someone channeling that mother. NO ONE has the right to fluff up memories we have of our dead friends and family.

Telling me that my mother is happy with my dad on the “other side” and is busy leaving pennies laying around to send me messages, would be insulting to her memory. If she knew someone was saying that my mother would be PISSED. She would get that eyebrow thing going (you know what I mean) and someone would be getting a grounding. My memories of my mother are no psychic’s business.

Imagine you believe that (insert name here) psychic is giving you images of dear brother that died in a horrible car accident. You cry…laugh…ect… over all the general comments that you are hearing. Nothing specific is said, just “I am happy” and “I miss you” things that seem to be comforting for the moment.

THEN Reality sets in…you tell your friends what happened and they look at you like you are nuts. OR you finally put two and two together and realize that you have just been played for a fool (actually about 2 1/2 fools cause you paid for this).

NOW WHAT? You have to go back and rethink how your brother died, and he is NOT happy on the other side with Fido and friends. You start thinking about his last moments crushed in the car. The grieving you thought you had already passed now has to start all over again. Plus, now you feel dirty with the knowledge that this scumbag con-person just raped your memories of your brother and took your money to boot!

Why do we skeptics not understand why people continue to believe this crap even though logic says it is clearly a con? I think it is because it is painful to admit that you were taken. No one wants to go back and relive that grieving process again. It is easier to just not think about it, or to continue to support psychics (hoping against hope that they might be real).

Paul T. is not the only one feeling sorry, so am I.

Federal judges don’t quit voluntarily; they may retire. A retired Federal judge is usually jealous of his/her dignity, and would not dream of lowering him/herself into commenting on a psychic’s squabble with a blog about talking to a dead celebrity.

    • Janis says:

Why are you focusing on an attorney? There are several types of federal judges–civilian, military, special tribunal for war crimes and a host of other matters. When you start to pick apart an attorney, it makes me suspicious of your original publication. Mark stated he would do some research over five days ago because his original source disappeared. Who was it that said:

“It is a capital mistake to theorize before one has data. Insensibly, one begins to twist facts to suit theories, instead of theories to suit facts.” Sherlock Holmes from A Scandal in Bohemia

Skeptics are also not supposed to be afraid to hold their hypothesis up to public debate. Not the people around them, but the actual hypothesis.

  30. Janis says:

What kills me is that while you are venting on Bonnie, people like John Edward are filling huge stadiums, such as the Portland, ME arena with expensive tickets. I am talking thousands of people who pay hundreds of dollars for a 1/1000 change of being looked at by this guy. I can’t blame the people entirely–grief does strange things to people. I really wish you would focus on the ones that have been doing this for years and not even giving people a person reading out of it–just selectively hand picking people out of the audience. And I do not say this to get heat off Vent, it just seems that these people like Edward are gaining steam in all of this AND his followers don’t seem to be dwindling. I just happened to get an email solicitation for one of his events this morning, and frankly, I did not even know the guy was still running around the country. So, what have you done about him, if you don’t mind my asking?

JE on South Park. That was thoroughly entertaining. It reminded me of my reaction when I saw him in person. He is an arrogant one also. Now that guy deserves that award, yet he continues to fill up stadiums of people. I don’t get it.
Maybe it is because he slinks around the country quietly taking his traveling road show with him. He is easily a multi-millionaire. That disgusts me. South Park had him nailed though. Thanks for the comic relief.

      • Sgerbic says:

Sooo you think that only the really really really harmful people should be called out? What about getting Sylvia Browne, John Edwards and the like before they become very very harmful?

You take them and knock them down sometimes because they present themselves in that way.

Besides Mark Edward and friends are doing all kinds of things, we are just not privy to everything here on this blog. You must understand that a goes on behind the curtain. Some things take a lot of planning.

It sounds like you are one of the only people that did not see Mark punk Sylvia Browne in December, see his previous posts for the link.

Mark and friends are doing their part. Who says that they are the only ones that can “do something”? You ask, “so, what have you done about him, if you don’t mind my asking?” I think the better question would be “Janis, what are you doing?”

  31. Sgerbic says:

Please tell me there is a button or something….

Psychic readings are between consenting adults, like certain other things we can no longer sneer at as immoral.

    • Max says:

Is it immoral to pretend to be a surgeon and charge money to perform surgeries?

      • Sgerbic says:

Stefanie, these people prey on grieving family members. Parents whose children were stolen, also many give medical advice. I have heard Sylvia Browne tell people what careers to go into, if they should break up with boyfriends (he was sitting next to her at the time) and so on. I’m not saying Bonnie does these things, but generally most psychics do.

Yes, it is between adults (usually) but still it isn’t right. They should be held accountable.

Just think of it this way, think of Consumer Reports Magazine, they review a whole bunch of toasters and then report back on what the best ones are for the price you pay. Very helpful to society. Think of skeptics doing the same thing. They are weeding out the psychics that are charging money for services that are fraudulent. It just so happens that skeptics haven’t found a psychic that was “real” yet. Consumer Reports would do the same thing, report back that all the toasters on the market (past as well as present) don’t work. Don’t give them your money they would report.

Ummmm…This Mark Edaward dude is one to talk, people. I just came from his website and he is no better, lol. He is just another one of the many psychics offering services….????

Oh, but I guess it is okay to channel Elvis, Princess Di, and so-on (he had quite a long list of celebs he had “channeled”….

  34. AUJT says:

    @Sgerbic

“Some button to push that will tell me if the post is new posted after my last visit? Its a pain to have to start at the beginning and work my way through each post to see what is new”

It’s a drag and I often don’t even bother going through the “replies”. I think I’ve complained about this before here. Not using the “reply” button and replying like this might make for a workable workaround but everyone needs to know about it for it to be effective. There’s better “blog software”. Perhaps there’s better settings with in this software?

The high tech world of duct cleaning is one that is rapidly evolving, and the advancements are sure to become better and better for the field as the years come and go. When choosing the best possible way to clean a duct, it’s usually the best to go with the latest technology, as we know that they are generally an improvement on the faults that were apparent in earlier offerings in cleaning.

  36. AUJT says:

    @Tinkerbitch

“Ummmm…This Mark Edaward dude is one to talk, people.”

Methinks you missed something somewhere Tinkerbitch. Mark claims no supernatural powers. He doesn’t claim to hear dead people. He is a showman, an entertainer, not a fraudulent psychic.

    • SicPreFix says:

He is a showman, an entertainer, not a fraudulent psychic.

You know, I’m always surprised how many people seem to miss that point. I’m sure we’re all familar with all those woozieclowns out there screaming into their magic ethers about how, for example, Randi’s only a magician and therefore a fraud, etc., add salt ad infinitum.

  37. kabol says:

you know what’s hilariously ironic here? from what i can see in a cursory search online, bonnie and another psychic called “cherokee billie” (billie chainey?) are having quite the psychic smackdown all over the internet about ole MJ’s channeling rights.

the ironic part is that, on her webiste, bonnie says things (about the other psychic) like:

“She has attempted to sell a download of alledged messages from Michael Jackson. There is not one shred of proof that she ever spoke with Michael Jackson.”

    and,

“All of her activities are directed at grieving fans to separate them from their hard earned money.”

“Charging grieving people for readings with a celebrity that she has no proof of being in contact with. On demand readings no less. As if Michael Jackson is standing by the 800 number waiting for your call. Sorry it does not work that way.”

“RUN VERY FAR AWAY FROM THIS WOMAN.”

man, you’ve gotta love the wanton hypocrisy that airs during a psychic smackdown — like when beatrice and chip coffey were going at it…

  38. kabol says:

LOL — this skeptic did a blog entry on bonnie back in august and noted some interesting..um…coincidences?…similarities?…between bonnie’s “channeling” video and a barbara walters MJ interview:

    http://www.totaltalknonsense.com/wp/2009/08/michael-jackson-survives/

i wonder what the ole judge/lawyer would make of that. i wonder what barbara’s or ABC’s lawyers would make of it….

    • kabol says:

oh pshaw — from the comments it looks like y’all already found that site – and here i thought i had a little scoop of poo to add to the bonnie vent pile.

  39. Tinkerbitch says:

Any idiot who advertises rediculaous services as Mark Edward offers…All in fun, well, just a bunch of hype. Although we are in a recession,I beleive there are still some respectable jobs out there, such as a Starbucks barista or a Wal Mart greeter.

    Ok, so far we have…

1)Psychics who truley beleive they are connecting with dead celebs from beyond the grave. So, at least when you are throwing away your money, you can keep telling yourself its real.

2)Psychics connecting with dead celebs (but not really) just letting you know up front its fake so you are aware you are throwing away your money from the start.

No thanks. I would rather book Kinko the Clown, or maybe Bubbles…Oh yeah, Bubbles is dead. Well maybe I can hire Mark Edwards to resurrect him from the dead for a few hours…But just make beleive, of course.

Yes, there are some cluless people here, but it’s not me.

  40. Maxxie says:

Yes, Bonnie seems questionable, but here is a link of a woman named Julianna from Australia who claims to have connected with Michael. She seems beleivable to me…

  41. Lillith says:

Actually, Tinker, I mean this author, Mark Edward states that he is an entertainer and psychic. Read it in his own words on his site.

Mark Edward, the author of the article on Bonnie Vent, currently maintains a business where he is actively selling psychic readings and medium sessions ALLEGATION

    See “themarkedward.com”: PROOF

Why is a person who raves about being the first to channel MJ writing an article saying “It didn’t take long for the crazies (basically) to crawl out”. Well, you should know Mark, you brag you were the first.

But let’s stick to the current facts about your activities and compare them to the subject of your article. Let us then see what you say on your site about psychics.

Under your show bookings, you will note that Mark currently holds himself out for employment as both a psychic and a medium.

He leaves the question of the legitimacy of his work legitimacy open. He states that he is an entertainer and a psychic, and states as to the psychic issue “who knows” Well apparently he sure did as far as Ms.Vent goes.

I am using the quote below under the Fair use provisions of copyright law. specifically for purposes of review and critique:

    Credit from “themarkedward.com”

“Mark will custom design and act as your host Medium for a seance entertainment. Each performance is built to invoke and bring back from the beyond a specific spirit entity. Mark has successfully brought back manifestations from such diverse entities as Elvis Presley, Harry Houdini, Marilyn Monroe, Princess Diana, Bela Lugosi, Aleister Crowley, Sharon Tate, Jimi Hendrix, James Dean and Jesse James. Clients are encouraged to agree upon a chosen celebrity to invoke rather than a general friend to the family or an actual deceased relative. It is to be understood by the booking agency or client that each seance is performed for entertainment purposes only and Mr. Edward does not imply, include or guarantee that any supernatural elementals or actual spirit appearances or guidance will occur. But who knows? It is imperative that each seance party takes the time to choose a particular spirit with which they wish to commune, otherwise there is no focus or center of attention with which The Medium may prepare a script in advance of or be ready to create a believable performance about. Mark’s goal is total believability, not hokum.” Again, from his site, used in review under Fair Use provisions.

Mark clearly states that he is not guaranteeing anything, but WHO KNOWS. As to psychic readings, your author promises:

Mark considers himself an entertainer first, and a psychic (if such a thing is indeed possible) second. Intuitive skills, mixed with good will carries through as the most accurate way to describe what a sitting with Mark is like. No tricks or magician scams are used or in any way necessary. Psychic parties are fun!

So, to answer the question, the author of the article slamming Bonnie Vent is a practicing entertainer/psychic IN HIS OWN WRITTEN WORDS, conjuring up dead celebrities for cash, in his own words, stating “who knows” as to whether he will do the same.

The answer is indeed “Who knows”.

Skeptics, I have proven the bias of your author. He even bragged about being the first to channel Jackson. Further, where is the further investigation he promised a full week ago when his source disappeared?

People, where is YOUR critical thinking? Your friendships are getting in the way; it shows in the personal attacks. Carl Sagan would be disappointed. Go look at the dragon in your garage Mark.

You said it in your own words. Who knows. (the ambiguity is fine for you when it suits your purpose, eh?)

    • SicPreFix says:

Lillith, you are flogging a dead horse. Your lack of well developed skills in basic English comprehension leaves you out in the cold in that you choose to misinterpret irony, humour, and tongue-in-cheek playfulness as serious claims.

Either that or you are just another shill trying to misdirect the flow of discussion with manifestly false explications of Edward’s words.

      • Max says:

How would you interpret Mark Edward’s description if you had never heard of him, or if you heard that he was a real psychic? Would the description convince you that he’s just a magician/mentalist with no psychic powers whatsoever?

I see Mark’s disclaimer as being similar to the horoscope disclaimers: “for entertainment purposes only, and no guarantee of accuracy”, but that’s just to avoid lawsuits.

      • Max says:

Mark’s website is definitely coy about where he stands.

“Mark considers himself an entertainer first, and a psychic (if such a thing is indeed possible) second.”

So he does consider himself a psychic. The caveat could be a way to gain trust.

“No tricks or magician scams are used or in any way necessary.”

So he considers magic tricks to be scams.

Of course, Mark’s position is clear from his work with skeptics, but I can understand how someone who only saw Mark’s website could confuse him for a bitter psychic who’s just jealous of other “phony” psychics

      • tmac57 says:

I have met and talked with Mark about this, and I understand his position to be that the “psychic” gigs are presented in the same vein as a magic show. Most magicians are not really trying to convince the public that they are accomplishing their feats with supernatural powers, it is all just a mental contract between the audience and the performer: I will pretend to perform something that defies the laws of nature, and you will pretend to believe that I can. The problem arises only when the “psychic” starts to insist that this is all real. An honest psychic performer really does want to just entertain, but you have to leave a little bit of mystery in there for it to be fun. No one really wants to know how a magic trick is done, because it spoils the illusion.

      • Max says:

        http://www.themarkedward.com/bio.html

“Mark neither declares himself as a genuine psychic nor gives any disclaimers, preferring to let his work stand on its own merit and allow each individual to arrive at their own personal conclusions.”

Now tell me that’s not being a little coy.

      • Max says:

        From his Bio page:

“Mark neither declares himself as a genuine psychic nor gives any disclaimers, preferring to let his work stand on its own merit and allow each individual to arrive at their own personal conclusions.”

Now tell me that’s not being a little coy.

      • SicPreFix says:

I understand what you’re saying Max, but I think this sentence (from the Show Packages page) is pretty unambiguous:

It is to be understood by the booking agency or client that each seance is performed for entertainment purposes only and Mr. Edward does not imply, include or guarantee that any supernatural elementals or actual spirit appearances or guidance will occur.

Even if it’s followed by the playful “who knows”.

Perhaps one of the problems is that there is just too much text on the website. It’s rather too easy to miss the unambiguous disclaimers.

Maybe the unambiguous disclaimer should be the very first paragraph on the very first page of the site.

      • Max says:

As I said, it’s similar to the horoscope disclaimers, which are there for legal reasons, but are not necessarily sincere.

But it does goes further than the disclaimers of people who claim to have psychic powers. They wouldn’t say that it’s just for entertainment. For example, here’s Bonnie Vent’s disclaimer on her Readings page:

“All sessions are for adults 18 years old or older.
Any information presented in a session is not meant to replace any psychological, legal, medical, or other professional advice or services. The guidance and insight provided through Bonnie Vent’s services is intended to help clients to make better life choices toward their own happiness and fulfillment. The client is always free to make their own choices at will, regardless of the interpretation of the information. Bonnie Vent shall not be liable regarding any action or non-action taken by the client in reference to the information presented during the session.”

  42. Stephanie Monington says:

Okay, children, let’s be grownup skeptics and quit squabbling about our assumptions and moral positions. Let’s choose a few questions each about something we KNOW the answer to, and ask each of the psychics we have a bone to pick with those questions; let’s compare answers and critique something specific. Enough opinion, assumption and theory. And while we’re at it, kids, let’s learn enough English to appear literate.

Your blog says “It looks like you have said that: duplicate comment.” It must be seeing things too?
